Social Care and Support

Being a parent of a child with additional needs can sometimes be challenging.  Some parents cannot work due to their caring role, which can impact on the whole family financially and emotionally.  For parents who can work, it can be demanding trying to maintain a work life balance with caring responsibilities.

It is important for parents (sometimes referred to as parent carers) to get support to help them look after their own health and wellbeing. You can search the Local Offer for more information about support groups and services for children and young people with SEND.  This includes support groups across Gloucestershire that have been set up specifically for children with particular disabilities, to specialist services to help parent carers with particularly complex caring needs.

Searching by keyword will enable you to narrow your search results based on your individual need, or you can
View all Services.  Additional information is also provided at the top of the search results page, which you may find useful.

For more information, or if you need help searching the directory, contact the Family Information Service on 0800 542 0202.
