The Acorn Centre is an independent term time only setting. We are situated between the Children's Centre and Grange Primary Academy. Accessed through the Children Centre Entrance. We serve many local schools and have children from different ethnical cultural and additional needs. We have two bright airy well resourced rooms and an outside area where the children can play and explore safely. All doors are secured by key pads and the gates are locked when we are in. We enjoy very close links with the school Therapists Advisory Teaching Service. We are fully inclusive and welcome all children. We have signed Gloucestershire County Council’s Agreement to offer the free 15hrs for 2; 3 & 4 year olds and up to 30hrs of the free government entitlement for 3 & 4 year olds. We cannot offer the full 30 hours of childcare but can offer a maximum of 3 full days for Preschool Children and will work alongside other settings to meet the parents requirements. We take children from the age of 2 years 9 months. Our hours are 9-11.30 12.30 -3 with the option of all day. (9-3).

Full accessible  for wheelchair users, ramp into the Childrens Centre and all floors are on one level.

Describe any training or experience you/your staff, have had or are having in issues around SEND?

Our staff are very experienced and have had training in, 

Makaton, the use of Epi-pens, diabetes type 1, allergy control, total communication, Autism awareness and meeting the needs of children.

As the need, arises, we will access any additional training required.

We have two members of staff with New to SENCO training and one  currently completing Level 3 Early Years SENCO.

Experience of working with children and young people with the following disabilities/additional needs.
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorders
  • Diabetes
