You may be aware that the funding for children and young people with additional needs is forecast to reduce in real terms over the next few years but the need is not diminishing. There is a real risk that some children will miss out – their needs will not be understood and they will struggle in the education world. In order to meet this challenge we need to re-think how we work.
Some of you may have contributed to the three engagement events that took place in the Autumn and be aware that we have taken initial soundings from schools and professionals working with children with additional needs. The paper sets out some preliminary thinking about how we might do things differently. We are now asking for your thoughts on these ideas and to put forward your own.
Please read through the Engagement paper which can be found on https://staffnet.gloucestershire.gov.uk/public-facing-departments/childrens-social-care/high-needs-programme/ and add comments where you want or feel able to.
