As a Family Law Solicitor I decided upon a change of career in 2012 and followed my heart to work with young children their families and carers. Initially I worked as a private nanny and mother's help as I got to know the profession in more detail. In 2015 I registered with Ofsted as a childminder and began offering full childcare and education services from my family home in the beautiful village of Greet.I increased my understanding and knowledge of child development and early childhood education and care by commencing a postgraduate certificate in Early Years (EYITT) in 2016 at the University of Gloucestershire and was awarded Early Years Teacher status by the Department of Education in 2017. As part of that postgraduate programme I have also commenced a Masters Degree in Education specialising in Early Years and am delighted to have been awarded the highest level of Distinction Plus for all modules completed to date. During the Early Years Teacher programme I am also proud to say my work was continually assessed moderated and recorded by both the University Lecturers Professors and an external mentor who works as an Ofsted Inspector of Early Years. My final grading for the course was Outstanding in all areas of the Teacher Standards for Early Years. All families and carers current and future are welcome to view not only my most recent Ofsted report (2016) but also my Early Years Teacher Portfolio my final Outstanding grading and my Department of Education Early Years Teacher Status. Whilst Ofsted reports are helpful tools when selecting a setting for your child I and many of my academic and professional peers place a higher value on the Portfolio and Award of Outstanding Early Years Teacher as the knowledge practice and understanding of the individual is put under intense scrutiny over a period of one year with numerous assessments reviews monitored activities setting visits and placements in external settings. In contrast Ofsted Reports are a brief snapshot of a setting and Inspectors are only given a few hours to view the setting and form their opinions for a report. They cannot therefore be expected to gain the same level of insight as those working with EYITT postgraduate students. My home as said previously is located in the beautiful village of Greet. It is a large traditional property with lots of space inside and outside for the children. Every child has their own room cot or bed and bedding for nap times. There is a large purpose built playroom with many different toys and resources on offer. I am a firm believer in creating interesting and innovative environments for the children which enable them to learn and develop through play. I have a large storage area with many more resources and toys to support a variety of children's interests. I ensure the resources on offer are regularly rotated and the play spaces in the house are reorganised to capture the children's imaginations and build upon their passions and interests.I have worked hard to create a high quality child led environment which supports all children and their families. By this I mean that I do not believe in adults dictating what activities and games the children should explore; instead I make sure our play spaces are full of lots of opportunities for different types of play and allow the children to select and explore as they feel comfortable. I then play alongside them providing support and extending their learning when appropriate. Sometimes children do their best learning and achieve their highest rates of development when left alone to explore toys and resources freely. To understand more about how I work and my professional ethos I would strongly recommend that your contact me to arrange a visit to my home if you are interested in the service and support I may be able to offer your family. As my business is small personalised and home based it is important we both feel comfortable with one another and the first steps to b
