Ashleworth C of E Primary School

At Ashleworth, we pride ourselves on the quality of learning and the strong family feeling and welcoming atmosphere.  The children, staff and supporters of Ashleworth all feel they are part of this unique community and respect each other and the contributions they make.

We are a primary school, operated by Gloucestershire County Council, catering for children aged 4 – 11. Our original school building was built in 1842, however, we also have a Forest School a short walk away where the children can make fires, eat marshmallows and learn all about the plants and animals that live alongside them.

We welcome volunteer and parent helpers into school and encourage our parents to support their children’s learning.

We hope our website will give you a real feel for our school, but as we are so unique we would welcome the opportunity to meet you and your family face to face so that the children can show you the school themselves and so we can answer any questions you may have.

We look forward to welcoming you and your children into our school.

Description

At Ashleworth, as part of our family ethos, all children are included in every aspect of our school life including extra-curricular activities.  Parents, children and all staff are involved in decisions affecting each child's education.  Be confident to raise any worries about your child with us.

Teaching is planned to 'close any gaps' for all children.  Teachers will speak to you at the outset when they are concerned about your child e.g. progress, attainment, speech or behaviour.  When a special educational need is identified we plan to meet this by careful adaptation of our provision and teaching.  For children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC) this will be fully supported.  For other children on our SEND register, 'My Plan' or 'My Plan Plus' are compiled in consultation with parents, children and other professionals (education, social or health) involved with the child.

Intervention is usually tailored to the individual, one-to-one or in small groups to match the specific need - although all children are taught in the classroom most of the time.  Progress will be regularly assessed and provision adapted to suit.  Staff are consistent in the use of our behaviour policy and, working closely with parents, we avoid exclusions.

As a small school we guarantee to get to know your child really well so that we can cater for their needs.  We will liaise with you regularly in a friendly and supportive way.

For more details please also read our website www.ashleworthprimaryschool.org including our policies, especially our SEND Policy.
