We now proud to launch a new Community Access Scheme (CAS) to support community groups and organisations.

The scheme allows visitors who would otherwise face barriers to visiting the arboretum independently, to come and enjoy all the wellbeing and mental health benefits being amongst our magnificent trees has to offer.

Groups who become part of the scheme are able to buy 60 or 120 visits to the arboretum at a reduced rate

Who is it for?

Eligible groups and organisations include organisations that support

  • people with learning or physical disabilities
  • people experiencing mental health issues
  • people living with dementia, or
  • organisations supporting excluded, vulnerable or isolated members of society
      

The criteria

To be eligible for our CAS your organisation must be based within a  20 mile radius of Westonbirt Arboretum and be:

  • a registered charity or
  • a community interest company (CIC) or
  • a community benefit society or
  • an organisation whose primary objective is to provide services directly to people who face physical, sensory, psychological or social barriers.

Larger organisations such as national bodies, working within the 20 miles radius, can purchase 60 / 120 visitor admissions per eligible branch each year, with a separate registration required for each branch.

Notes

From London, Wales and the south west exit M4 at J18 onto A46 north, then take A433.

From Cheltenham, Oxfordshire and the north, go to Tetbury via Cirencester and follow the brown signs south on A433.

Other notes

For families
We have a play trail with outdoor play features and an under 5s play area.

Parking
There are 21 disabled parking spaces are located close to the Welcome Building.

Scooter and wheelchair loan
Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are available for free loan from the Welcome Building – they must be booked in advance by calling Westonbirt’s Visitor Services team on 0300 067 4861.

Accessible paths
There are DDA approved paths from the Welcome Building to main facilities, along with 17 miles of hard paths accessible for wheelchairs, scooters and buggies. Trails off the paths are accessible depending on weather conditions but can be unsuitable in wet conditions due to mud. Please note that due to the terrain we do not advise the use of three wheel electric scooters.

Disabled toilets
Disabled toilets can be found in the Welcome Building.

Changing Place
Our changing place can be found in the toilet block close to the Great Oak Hall. It includes toilet facilities as well as equipment such as a height adjustable changing bed and a ceiling hoist. The hoist can lift up to 190kg and allows users easy movement in all dimensions around the room. This facility is part of the Changing Places scheme.

Assistance Dogs
Registered assistance dogs are welcome in all parts of Westonbirt Arboretum. They are able to roam off the lead in our dog friendly area, Silk Wood, but on the lead in the Old Arboretum. Water is provided for dogs near to the Welcome Building, visitor services office and restaurant.

We offer two types of CAS card:

  • Card 1: 60 admissions for £30 (incl. VAT)
  • Card 2: 120 admissions for £60 (incl. VAT)

Please note that CAS cards may not be used for ticketed events within the arboretum (e.g. Forest Live and Enchanted Christmas)
