Welcome to the website for Ann Edwards Church of England Primary School. We are situated in extensive grounds in the village of South Cerney, in the heart of the beautiful Cotswold Water Park and close to the historic town of Cirencester.
I am very proud of our vibrant, child-centred and inclusive school. I hope you find our website a useful source of information about our school’s values, organisation and curriculum. You can also access all of the latest newsletters and check out diary dates on our calendar. Please also look below to find our virtual school tour.
We are a Voluntary Controlled Church of England Primary School that caters for boys and girls aged 4 to 11. We have approximately 240 children on roll, in nine classes.
We have a modern, well equipped building set in pleasant landscaped grounds. We have set up a range of learning spaces to fully cater for our broad and engaging curriculum and to meet children’s individual needs, including: a designated music room, our ‘safe space’ sensory room to offer a quiet area for those times children can be a little unsettled, a new room for our three ELSAs (emotional literacy support assistants), a nurture room, outdoor classroom, forest school area and a family room.
Our curriculum extends beyond the National Curriculum to nurture our children, install secure values, stoke their curiosity, aid their spiritual growth and enable them to serve as responsible 21st century citizens. We have two trained Forest School leaders on the staff, our teachers are trained in Philosophy For Children and all staff have completed trauma-informed schools training.
Strong links are maintained with the communities we serve and with the local church, All Hallows. Our Christian ethos provides a spiritual and moral context that helps children to grow into thinking, caring people.
Children come to our school from South Cerney, Cerney Wick, Somerford Keynes, and other neighbouring villages. We also take children from the 29th Regiment RLC and Four Acres Caravan Park. Our main feeder playgroups are South Cerney Playgroup and the Duke of Gloucester Playgroup.
We work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure that children make the very best of their time at Ann Edwards School, so that they look back on their primary schooldays with pleasure.
