Gloucestershire College is a successful college of further and higher education in Gloucestershire with three main campuses in Cheltenham, Gloucester and the Forest of Dean.  The college offers a wide range of education and training programmes, including A Levels and GCSEs, apprenticeships, vocational qualifications, work-based learning, basic skills courses, higher education, short courses for business, part-time day and evening courses and English for overseas students. Gloucestershire College welcomes over 5,000 full-time students and over 10,000 part-time students each year, and employs 1200 members of staff across all sites.

In 2012, Gloucestershire College signed the College Autism Inclusion Charter to show its commitment to ensuring that it works towards an inclusive and Autism friendly environment where all students have high aspirations and staff that are aware of how best to support individuals with Autism.

We are dedicated to supporting students who have additional learning needs and disabilities and believe passionately in enabling our students to become more independent and autonomous in their learning and lives.

The College also has Advice and Guidance Coordinators who are here to help you understand the education options available to your son or daughter or the teenager you care for enabling them to reach their career goals. We can offer; advice by email, phone, or in person via one to one guidance appointments. We also help with completing application forms, and can schedule campus tours and tasters. We work closely with local schools and other education providers and attend mock interviews, school career events and parent’s evenings, and often give talks and presentations about post 16 education options. To contact the Advice and Guidance Team specifically, please telephone 01452 563210 or email advice@gloscol.ac.uk

Describe any training or experience you/your staff, have had or are having in issues around SEND?

The Learning Support team offer a rolling staff development and support programme to provide training, hints and tips around each specific learning difficulty and special educational need (e.g. dyslexia, autism, Asperger's syndrome, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, visual stress, ADD/ADHD).  This suite of training is supported by factsheets, interactive resources and hints and tips to support staff within their own development.

In addition, we host college wide staff development days throughout the year that often cover key SEND awareness and updates and we are proud to have Investors in People Gold status.
