Mothers' Union - Gloucester Diocese

Mothers' Union is a world-wide organisation whose purpose it is to be concerned with all aspects of Christian family life. As a voluntary organisation, Mothers' Union offers friendship, care and unconditioned love to thousands of women and men throughout the world, a lifeline for many families. It is a praying, teaching and caring society. Membership is open to both men and women who have been baptised in the name of the Trinity and who support the organisations aim and objectives.

Mothers' Union also help fund and organise holidays for underprivileged families who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity for a break, called 'Away From It All' holidays. Applications for these are handled at the diocesan office of Mothers' Union. You don't have to be a member of the church to apply, but a member of the clergy, doctor, head teacher or social worker will need to support the application.

Mothers' Union members work as volunteers at the two Gloucestershire prisons, at the Cheltenham Contact Centre and at some of the Children's Centres in the county. Mothers' Union also raises funds for various overseas projects.
