Whitminster Endowed C of E Primary School
- Local Offer
Whitminster School is a small 4 class village school that enables children to develop at an individual pace, allowing them to explore their environment and learn about the wider community and world. At Whitminster School we value an individualised approach to educating the child through a balanced understanding that education is a broad concept and we embrace traditional values; understanding of right from wrong, how to have empathy for each other and helping others in the wider community. This is complimented by developing the skills they will need in the twenty first century.
OUR AIM: At Whitminster we are a community where everyone is valued and encouraged to achieve their full potential in a happy and safe environment built on Christian values.
Our School Values are: "Celebrate and be proud"

How will our school teach and support children with SEND?
For children without an Education, Health and Social Care plan (EHC)
Universal Quality First Teaching
The school regularly monitors your child’s progress in meeting their targets and if they are not making enough progress support will be put in place.
Targeted support for individuals or small groups Short / medium term
Assessment for learning is used to support planning for different levels of attainment. Small groups may be supported by either the class teachers or Teaching Assistants as appropriate.
Specialised individual support - Medium / longer term
Work is adapted to meet individual children’s needs. There is careful targeting of individual support for pupils with individual education plans (IEP.) Support is put in place for pupils who are not making progress.
For details of specific programmes that the school uses see an example of our provision map attached.
For children with an EHC plan
Children with an EHC will have been assessed as having specific needs that are severe and/or complex. The EHC plan would make clear the individual provision that the child needs and the school would meet these needs through appropriate resources including staffing. This may include working with external agencies.
