Gloucestershire Healthy Living and Learning Programme (GHLL)

Healthy children do better in learning and in life. Gloucestershire Healthy Living and Learning (GHLL) aims to help children and young people reach their full potential by leading happy and healthy lifestyles. GHLL achieves this by providing resources, information, and by promoting offers from endorsed charitable organisations, on the topics of PSHE and R(S)HE to schools, families, and young people. GHLL also offers an extensive suite of free online and face-to-face training to support continuing professional development of staff working in Gloucestershire schools. Training offers are guided by statutory teaching and learning requirements, service user demand, and the emerging needs of young people and children in Gloucestershire which are ascertained through numerous survey results.

GHLL offers a variety of healthy school initiatives, projects and promotions that are inclusive of all schools, colleges and centres in Gloucestershire. Their award programmes focus on whole school approaches to nurture personal development and positive wellbeing for children, young people and the wider school community. All schools are encouraged to work towards gaining accreditation as Healthy Schools or Healthy FE colleges; GHLL resources exist to aid progress towards certification and accomplished education practitioners, known as Lead Teachers, are allocated to schools to guide and advise throughout the process.
