Parent Carer Support

Being a parent of a child with additional needs can sometimes be challenging. Some parents cannot work due to their caring role, which can impact on the whole family financially and emotionally. For parents who can work, it can be demanding trying to maintain a work life balance with caring responsibilities.

It is important for parents (sometimes referred to as parent carers) to get support to help them look after their own health and wellbeing. You can search the Local Offer for more information about support groups and services for children and young people with SEND. This includes support groups across Gloucestershire that have been set up specifically for children with particular disabilities, to specialist services to help parent carers with particularly complex caring needs.

Visit the Parent Carer Community Support page within Support for Families with SEND for more detail on these groups, and to find out more about support available for Parent Carers in Gloucestershire.
