The Aston Project

Aston Project Logo

Working with young people aged 9 to 17 years old, our aims include:

• To reduce harm, crime and antisocial behavior involving young people.

• To equip and inspire young people to make better life decisions.

• To utilise the skills and attributes of the young person and their community as part of the solution.

• To promote an ethos of `work for reward’ amongst young people.

• To develop relationships and break down barriers between young people, their communities and partners.

• To support local businesses and communities by developing the future local workforce, using activities and work placement opportunities.

• To recruit and utilise the knowledge and skills of community volunteers.

Time Banking

Through a variety of activities, credits are earned and spent using the time banking system.

Young people have to earn credits BEFORE spending them on reward activities.

How does it work?

Young people engaged with the project are encouraged to talk to us about the types of reward activities available. The number of credits that a young person receives will vary according to the type of activity undertaken. Once sufficient credits have been earned, the young person, guided by a member of the team, can choose to spend them on a desired reward activity. The amount of credits required, will be based upon the cost of the activity and the amount of staff / volunteer time needed to run it.
