Churcham Primary School
- Local Offer
Churcham Primary School, Gloucestershire is a community school, situated 6 miles west of Gloucester; an easy driving distance from the city.
In our Ofsted Inspection of June 2009 we were categorized as an 'outstanding' school. We feel we have a quality that makes us stand out from other primary schools in Gloucestershire - Owing to the small size and rural nature of Churcham Primary School, the school provides a strong friendly, family environment. We enjoy excellent resources and our integrated pre school group, ACORNS, caters for children from the age of 2 years; thus creating a natural link with key stage 1 and preparing pupils for full time education. Our pupils are split into two classes - Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
Our classes have good staff/pupil ratios, allowing time for individual tuition and high standards. Parental help is welcomed and there is a range of activities for you to enjoy with your family.
The best way to get to know our school is to come and talk to us, and take a look at the school environment. You are very welcome any time although it would be best to make an appointment so that sufficient time can be spent on this important visit.
Telephone the school office on 01452 750467 and speak to our Head Mrs Kelly or our school administrator Miss Birch.
Like all primary schools in Gloucestershire, Churcham Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

- Description
At Churcham Primary School, as part of our family ethos, all children are included in every aspect of our school life including extra-curricular activities. Parents, children and all staff are involved in decisions affecting each child’s education. Be confident to raise any worries about your child with us.
Teaching is planned to ‘close any gaps’ for all children. Teachers will speak to you at the outset when they are concerned about your child e.g. progress, attainment, speech or behaviour. When a special educational need is identified we plan to meet this by careful adaptation of our provision and teaching. For children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC) this will be fully supported. For other children on our SEND register ‘My Plan’ or ‘My Plan Plus’ are compiled in consultation with parents, children and other professionals (education, social or health) involved with the child.
Intervention is usually tailored to the individual, one-to-one or in small groups to match the specific need – although all children are taught in the classroom most of the time. Progress will be regularly assessed and provision adapted to suit. Staff are consistent in the use of our behaviour policy and, working closely with parents, we avoid exclusions.
As a small school we guarantee to get to know your child really well so that we can cater for their needs. We will liaise with you regularly in a friendly and supportive way.
